Department: Residence Life
Reports To: Director of Residence Life and Judicial Affairs
Starting Salary: $32,463 plus room, utility (including internet and cable), board while school is in session will be paid by NMC for this position.

JOB SUMMARY
This position provides academic support to housing students, helping them achieve success in their academic goals by providing lifelong learning opportunities outside of the classroom, and supporting the department through idea generation and implementation of a “Living/Learning Community.” This position also has management responsibilities over campus life activities.

This position is required to live in the NMC dormitory. Room and utilities covered year round
with a meal plan provided during the fall and spring semesters.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATES and LICENSES
Required:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Two or more years of residence life leadership or related experience
  • 2 years required experience with Google docs, Microsoft Office with strong written and oral communication skills
  • Valid, unrestricted Michigan Drivers license or ability to obtain by start date



Preferred:

  • Demonstrated ability to respond in crisis, emergencies and issues in a college residence hall or apartment setting
  • Successful record of recruiting, training and supervising an inclusive diverse staff
  • Experience in higher education
  • Experience with or knowledge of student governance/councils

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises others in accordance with NMC's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding, recognizing employees; addressing performance problems or gaps.

WORK HOURS:

This is a full-time, 40+ hour per week position.
