Nazareth College in Rochester, NY invites applications for a full-time faculty position in professional practice to expand a thriving undergraduate program in Musical Theatre, starting August 2020. Candidates should have a record of professional performing experience in musical theatre as well as extensive knowledge of musical theatre dance, repertory and the professional theatre world. Candidates should also demonstrate successful teaching experience in musical theatre dance, musical theatre performance, as well as choreographing musicals.

Primary responsibilities will be choreographing of productions, teaching musical theatre dance styles, musical theatre performance, audition coaching, history and repertory. Ability to direct musical productions will be a plus. Teaching duties may also include other forms of dance specialty (i.e. Jazz, Ballet, Modern, African, Social/Ballroom, Tap, etc.), and student showcases. Additional responsibilities will include working closely with the program director to enhance the program, recruiting high-quality students locally and regionally, establishing connections with industry professionals, maintaining a successful career in musical theatre on and off campus, and exhibiting a collegial spirit in collaborating with music, dance and theatre faculty to produce inter-departmental productions that advance the mission of the college.

We will give preference to applicants with a terminal degree, with a specialization in Musical Theatre, Theatre Arts, or Dance, and experience teaching in a higher education institution. We will consider applicants with at least a bachelor’s degree and significant professional experience, who have also taught in a college setting. A commitment to teaching in a liberal arts environment is essential. The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to the College mission, of teaching the whole student, by integrating performance skills with a liberal arts grounding.
