The County Extension Secretary will assist in managing the many resources offered by this UGA office. It coordinates and distributes time as needed for the satisfactory delivery of the county program. A high level of independent judgment is required to effectively carry out the essential duties of the job. Work involves the performance of routine office duties which follow prescribed UGA procedures which may involve judgment based on knowledge gained through experience. Work is performed under the general supervision of an administrative superior (County Extension Coordinator). Work also consists of mailing soil samples and reconciling the Quick Books accounts and collecting funds (4-H and ANR sample funds).Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
MicroSoft Office- Excel, Word, Outlook a plus.
Quickbooks knowledge. As UGA has excellent training for these important programs.

Facilitate conference calls/video conferences to connect clientele with County Agents from other counties or with State Specialists.
Maintain/or assist with the County website.
Maintain the office filing system in a manner that corresponds with the standard for all Extension offices and coordinate office tasks with other county staff as necessary.
Maintaining and updating mailing list.
Assist with 4-H volunteer record keeping w/assistance of 4-H Agent.
Operate office computer and types correspondence, newsletters, manuscripts, articles, administrative reports, special events flyers and programs.
Calculates, types, posts, and balances standard financial statements, reports, vouchers, requisitions, check requests, journal sheets, inventories, or expense accounts from standard sources making routine mathematical computations and checks for accuracy.
Assist clientele with access to Extension resources and services including: printed publications, online content, other educational materials, and sample submission for all diagnostic services (e.g. soil and water tests, feed and animal waste analysis, radon testing).
Assist clientele in registering for regional or statewide workshops/conferences and training or testing associated with certification programs offered by Extension (e.g. educational materials, and sample submission for all diagnostic services (e.g. soil and water tests, feed and animal waste analysis, radon testing).
Assist clientele in registering for regional or statewide workshops/conferences and training or testing associated with certification programs offered by Extension (e.g. pesticide applicators, certified landscape professional, certified childcare providers, ServeSafe).
Assist in the publicizing of programs and workshops offered in local county or nearby counties to clientele.
Maintain office inventory of publications, office supplies and materials as needed.
Assist County Extension Coordinator with personnel procedures.
Regularly participating in staff conferences and District Conferences.
Assist staff with day to day operations of Cooperative Extension county office by answering phone, processing mail, distributing publications, greeting visitors, filing documents, etc.
Promote and partner with other UGA Extension programs such as 4-H, AG and Family & Consumer Sciences.
