Monday – Friday, various hours depending on 4-H Agent and County Extension Coordinator. Hours will equal 19 hours per week. Schedule will include weekends and nights during peek 4-H events.

Preferred QualificationsPosition Summary

This part-time, non benefited position plans and organizes a variety of Laurens County 4-H program activities. It assists the county Extension office staff.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Communication skills – written and oral. Computer skills, including Microsoft Office. Knowledge of interests and behavior of program participants. Record keeping and organizational skills. Work independently or as a team member with other 4-H personnel.

Physical Demands

Sit or stand at workstation for various periods of time to complete projects or basic work duties. Lifting up to 50 lbs. Work in various weather conditions.

Assist 4-H Club members preparation for competitive events such as project achievement, judging teams, etc. Transport or arrange transportation of 4-H’ers to various district and state events and if assigned, provide leadership for youth while attending these important events.

Percentage of time25 Duties/Responsibilities


Conduct in school club meetings and deliver the prepared curriculum that meets state (Georgia Professional Standards) guidelines. Incorporate the results of program evaluations and feedback in planning future programs and techniques used in implementing programs under the direction of 4-H Agent and District Program Development Coordinator 4-H.

Percentage of time25 Duties/Responsibilities


Identify, recruit, train, and help supervise 4-H volunteers in planning, teaching, and evaluating Cooperative Extension 4-H programs. Assist interested volunteers in the successful completion of the 4-H Chaperone Training. Multiple programs may receive leadership from volunteers such as the Archery Team, Horse Club, BB Team, and Livestock Show Teams. Extension Program Assistants must manage these programs through the management of the volunteer with assistance from the 4-H Agent and County Coordinator.

Make reports to appropriate clientele, staff members, Board of Education, Board of Commissioners, and public officials through electronic mass media (county website, internet, etc.) personal contacts and/or group meetings. Submit accurate and complete reports in a timely manner in GA Counts, 4-H enrollment, and the District office.

Percentage of time25 Duties/Responsibilities


Regularly participate in staff conferences (using them for planning and evaluation of joint activities) and share ideas among all co-workers, leaders, district staff, and specialists to promote teamwork.

Assist staff with day to day operations of the County Extension Office by answering the phone, processing mail, distributing publications, greeting visitors, filing documents, etc.
