DescriptionThe Associate Director, Student Diversity & Development will develop and execute strategies to create a more inclusive campus climate for Black students and the Black campus community through advocacy for campus-wide racial equity and social justice, advising 16 Black cultural student organizations, implementing educational, developmental, and sociocultural programs and events that advance campus inclusion, support the African American Studies Program, address systemic barriers facing the Black campus community, and foster on- and off-campus partnerships that strengthen the work of diversity, inclusion, equity, and cultural competency throughout campus using an intersectional framework.

Collaborate with a broad range of on-campus entities, including student organizations, the Office of Student Activities, Counseling Center, Career Center, Health Center, Fraternity & Sorority Life, African American Studies, Student Success Programs, Towson Black Alumni Alliance, Black Faculty & Staff Association, and other institutional partners, to create and execute a calendar of programs and activities that focus on issues faced by Black students and overall student development including activities that focus on race/ethnicity, low-income/first generation status, intracultural diversity, etc.

Supervise the Assistant Director, Latinx Student Development & Diversity by providing guidance on their programmatic efforts for Latinx and undocumented students/communities, creating annual performance goals, giving consistent feedback on performance, supporting professional development, and aiding in the overall success and wellness of the Assistant Director.

Hire, supervise, and development a Graduate Assistant who will support the overall vision of creating a more inclusive and diverse campus community, to include managing programs and events, assisting in advising duties, conducting trainings and workshops, etc.

Represent the Office of Inclusion & Institutional Equity on departmental, divisional, and university-wide committees, and maintain collaborative partnerships with interdisciplinary departments and initiate co-sponsorship opportunities across the University.

Assist with other duties within the Center for Student Diversity and the Office of Inclusion & Institutional Equity, as assigned.

QualificationsMaster’s degree with three years of experience with program planning, advising, mentoring, and collaborating with internal and external sources. Knowledge of higher education, specifically of Black student development theories and best practices. Experience working with underserved/underrepresented student populations, specifically Black students. Ability to work with a wide range of students, staff, and faculty in a diverse college setting. Experience supervising volunteers, paraprofessional, or professional staff required.

Preferred:

•Master's degree in higher education, college student personnel, counseling, social work, cultural studies, or a closely related field.
•Proficient in Spanish or another language.

A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
