Architecture Part Time Pool
Job Description Summary
Selected applicants will be interviewed to establish a pool of approved Architecture instructors for possible part-time teaching assignments in the Architecture Division. Assignments may be day, evening, or weekend classes at the San Luis Obispo Campus, the North County Campus, South County Center or other sites within San Luis Obispo County.
Possible subject areas include:
- First Year Beginning Design and Drawing Studios – Teaching basic design concepts, freehand sketching, perspective, physical modeling, and digital media.
- Second Year Architectural Design Studios - Teaching architectural design in terms of spatial quality, materiality, constructability, sustainability, program and context.
- Digital Visually Communication – Teaching digital media, drawing and modeling skills.
- Architectural Practice – Teaching introduction to professional practice, construction documentation and material assemblies and systems.
- Environmental Control Systems - Teaching site analysis, building systems design and environmentally conscious sustainable design building strategies for promoting human thermal comfort and health.
- History of World Architecture

Essential Functions & Qualifications
-Any bachelor degree and two years of professional experience directly related to architecture
-Any associate degree and six years of professional experience directly related to architecture
-The equivalent. (Candidates making application on the basis of equivalency must submit all materials requested for an equivalency judgment. For directions on what is an acceptable equivalency argument please review the requirements listed on the following link:

-Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
-Teaching experience in the discipline, community college level preferred;
-Awareness of the philosophy and objectives of California Community Colleges.
