You will play a role in some of the most important functions of a university by collaborating with higher education faculty and staff, recording and editing academic video and audio, ensuring course media meets established design standards and development expectations, maintaining an adaptable yet accountable media production workflow, and providing course media support as needed.

About the Office of Innovative Instruction and eLearning at Concordia University Irvine:

The Office of Innovative Instruction and eLearning (OIIE) provides leadership and expertise in the identification and onboarding of new academic programs, course design and development, and faculty training and development across the university. With student success as its primary goal, the 7-member team collaborates with and supports the 5 schools and their faculty to design and develop quality academic programs in support of its mission.

A day in the life of an Educational Media Specialist:

A typical work day in this position will consist of focused, individual work on media production tasks, as well as phone, email, web conferencing and face-to-face communication with subject matter experts (faculty), OIIE team members, vendors, and various departments on campus. For each of your educational media assignments you will take the project from beginning to end. This may include recording audio and/or video, creating interactive eLearning content, receiving and implementing feedback from team members and subject matter experts, creating captions and transcripts, exporting or publishing media products, documenting your work, and uploading to hosting sites or to the learning management system. You will be an active member in a highly functional collaborative team that meets regularly either face-to-face or via web conference.

What you need to be qualified for this job:

To be qualified for this job, you need at least three years of media production experience. You will also need to be a quick and eager learner, a self-starter with strong initiative, well-organized and detail-oriented, and exhibit a team-first attitude. You will need a keen adaptability to unforeseen circumstances, the ability to meet hard deadlines, and effectively coach collaborators to work towards the same deadlines.
