Job Description:

Decker School of Nursing invites qualified applicants to apply for a Clinical Assistant Professor position. Teaching responsibilities primarily include FNP clinical courses in the graduate program with the ability to teach pediatric advanced practice nursing content, beginning Spring 2019. The Decker School is dedicated to developing strong clinically competent advanced practice nurses who are prepared to practice collaboratively in the primary care setting. We are seeking a motivated and creative faculty member that can work independently and is a team player.

The successful candidate must be nationally certified by AANPCB or ANCC as a nurse practitioner and demonstrate professional activities that promote advanced practice nursing on a local, state, and regional level. A minimum of two years of recent full-time or four years of part-time clinical experience as an FNP is required. The position requires teaching, as well as other academic responsibilities. These activities include didactic teaching, lecture development and delivery, course development, revision and evaluation, participation in clinical simulation activities, advising and mentoring of students, direct and indirect supervision of student clinical experiences and conducting site visits to monitor student progression. Service within the university will include faculty meetings, committee membership, professional activities, and other assigned responsibilities. One day a week release time is provided to maintain clinical practice.

Salary is negotiable and commensurate with years of experience and education.


  • Candidate must be (or plan to be) matriculated in a doctoral program or ideally has earned a DNP or PhD degree.
  • Evidence of (or potential for) clinical scholarship, such as poster presentation or peer reviewed publications.
  • Nationally certified as a Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist.
  • Evidence of ongoing membership in local, regional and national professional organizations
  • Minimum of 2 years full time or 4 years part time clinical practice experience as an APRN in the NP or CNS role.
  • Current unencumbered Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist license.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills in addition to excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Proficient computer skills and willingness to become adept in university software packages and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of initiative and participate collaboratively in teams of faculty to support student success.
