The Institute for Liberal Arts & Interdisciplinary Studies at Emerson College is looking to fill one section of Sociology 206 Gender in a Global Perspective for the Fall 2019 semester, September 4, 2019-December 19, 2020. The section is scheduled Tuesday/Thursday from 4-5:45pm. The course is capped at 35 students.

The course description is as follows: “Examines gender in a comparative and global context framed by interdisciplinary perspectives from sociology, anthropology, psychology, and cultural studies. Studies social construction of gender across cultures and globalization as a web of complex forces shaping gender-construction activities and institutions. Students compare experiences with other cultures and analyze work, play, and intimacy and institutional structures, including religion, politics, military, media, and the economy.”

Affiliated faculty are paid on a step system according to the union contract. Steps are determined by the number of credits faculty have taught at the college. New faculty start at step one, and the step one salary for teaching the course above is $6,943.00

The successful candidate must have the ability to work effectively with faculty, students, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
