Job Details
The application materials of successful candidates will
• Articulate their plans to provide outstanding classroom and laboratory instruction in geotechnical engineering fundamentals, advanced topics, and design;
• Describe how they will be able to contribute more broadly to the civil engineering curriculum by teaching introductory courses in other sub-disciplines of civil engineering or common civil engineering courses, such as engineering materials, mechanics, probability and statistics, numerical methods, and/or graphics;
• Describe their commitment to diversity and inclusive pedagogy and any relevant experience, expertise, or plans in these areas;
• Discuss their plan for developing and sustaining a productive and innovative program of scholarship and research in a primarily undergraduate context;
• Discuss their willingness to contribute to university and professional service, potentially through a discussion of prior service to their university, discipline, community, and/or society.

The Community
Located in central Pennsylvania, Lewisburg features a variety of restaurants, beautiful Victorian homes, the restored art deco Campus Theatre (owned by the University), charming shops and boutiques, and the Barnes & Noble at Bucknell University Bookstore. About 33,000 residents live in the region.
The city of Williamsport is about a 30-minute drive from campus, and Penn State University’s main campus is about an hour away, as is Harrisburg, Pennsylvania’s state capital. Bucknell is about three hours from New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
The cost of living here is low compared to that of major U.S. cities and suburbs.
