The Department of Criminal Justice offers a MS degree, graduate certificate, BS degree, and two minors-criminal justice and forensic science. Current faculty consists of nine tenure-track and four full-time instructors. The Department has the third largest number of majors in the Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences and provides students with a comprehensive educational experience including exemplary academics and numerous extra-curricular opportunities. Job DutiesThe Department of Criminal Justice invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin August 17, 2020. We seek highly motivated and collegial individuals with a potential for or demonstrated record of scholarly research and publication, pursuit of external grants at the state and national level, effective teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and service to the university, community and profession.
Contingent upon the availability of funds.
Minimum Education/ExperienceA PhD in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or a closely related field, such as Justice Administration is required, however, ABD candidates may be considered. Candidates with Ph.D. conferred at the time of initial appointment will hold the probationary rank of Assistant Professor. ABD candidates will also be initially appointed with the probationary term rank of Assistant Professor and must have the terminal degree conferred prior to first reappointment. A JD (law degree) is not considered a terminal degree for this position. Qualifying degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/EducationAll areas of specialization will be considered, however, preference will be given to candidates with a specialization in law enforcement, crime mapping, or courts and judicial process.
