Nature of Work:TheDepartment of Anesthesiology has an opening for a full-time Payroll andCompensation Specialist. This position supports various human resourcesfunctions within the Department of Anesthesiology such as payroll, FMLAadministration, compensation, onboarding, etc. This position facilitatesthe monthly and biweekly payroll processes for the entire Department ofAnesthesiology to include timesheet processing, reconciliation and audits,leave management as well as ensures compliance with applicable laws andregulations. This position facilitates processes and procedures relatedto HR lifecycle for all employment classifications. Supervisionwill be by the HR & Faculty Affairs Program Manager with a dotted linereporting relationship to the Business Operations Supervisor, the Director ofFinance and Administration (DFA) and the Pediatric Section Administrator. - Perform payroll-related entries into the HRInformation System, Human Capital Management (HCM). Validate and verify otherdepartmental HCM entries as needed.
- Responsible for the accurate and timely input ofmonthly, biweekly, and off-cycle payroll data.
- Enter and maintain all faculty fundingdistributions.
- Conduct monthly audits to ensure all HCM entries areaccurate and timely, in accordance with Campus and University payrolldeadlines.
- Run and review payroll registers monthly to ensureaccuracy of payroll and sources of compensation.
- Assist department managers or faculty as needed withsalary planning and budgeting for projects.
- Create transactions in the Human Capital Management(HCM) system related to compensation, position and personnel management(including: new hires, terminations, short work breaks, reappointments,additional jobs, pay rate changes, supervisor changes, percent of time changes,sabbaticals, etc.).
- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete records,ensuring compliance with Federal, State and University laws, regulations,policies, and procedures.
- In collaboration with the HR & Faculty AffairsProgram Manager, assist in the development of standard operating procedures andprocess improvement initiatives.
- Track and report on FML hours, expected returndates, etc.
- Coordinate leave usage and documentation for allcollege personnel and ensure appropriate policies and procedures are beingfollowed for compliance to applicable rules and guidelines (includes FML,Workers Comp, Parental leave, leave without pay).
- Coordinate, process, and reconcile leave usage andtime reporting (monthly and bi-weekly) using HCM and MyLeave. Ensure HR and ESpayroll deadlines are met.
- Audit biweekly and monthly payroll registers andalert the HR Program Manager of any over or underpayment of employees.Reconcile actual to submitted payroll.
- Assist with the administrative aspects of annualmerit review and salary adjustment process. Distribute appropriate forms, track completion and return ofdocumentation, prepare and distribute merit letters, and submit evaluationforms to Campus HR.
- Perform other duties, tasks, and projects as assigned.
- In collaboration with the Business OperationsSupervisor, assist in the reporting for salary benchmark surveys.
- Assist department managers as needed with the medlegal billing process and reconciliation of payments made to faculty for theirlegal services.
- Process Payroll Expense Transfers (PET) and followup to ensure timely approval and accuracy of desired outcome.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in human resource management,public administration, business administration, higher educationadministration, health care administration or a directly related field from anaccredited institution.
- One (1) year of professional level payroll, finance,accounting, human resource or related experience.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office products,especially Excel.
- Experience working in an academic medicalenvironment.
- Experience with University of Colorado Systempolicies and procedures.
- Higher education accounting experience ORProgressive experience in accounting, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Ability to make timely, informed decisions that takeinto account the facts, goals, constraints, and risks.
- Ability to examine data to grasp issues, drawconclusions, and solve problems.
- Ability to independently establish work priorities,follow through, and meet established deadlines.
- Advanced proficiency with using Microsoft OfficeSuite including, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentialitywhile working with sensitive information.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and customerservice skills, including the ability to actively listen in order to determinespecific needs and develop responses with relevant, concise, and accurateinformation.
