8:00 am – 5:00 pm; Monday – Friday with ‘on-call’ designation.

This position is designated as ‘mandatory’ and, when contacted to report to work, its incumbent is expected to reach the campus as expeditiously as possible using normal precautions as dictated by the adverse weather conditions.

Primary Purpose of Position

This position will supervise and oversee the daily operations of the HRL Mechanical Services shop (Plumbing and HVAC).

Minimum Education/Experience

Graduation from a technical college with a major in air conditioning, heating and refrigeration technology, industrial maintenance technology or mechanical engineering technology and a minimum of three years progressive experience in facility maintenance; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Essential Job Duties

Supervision of PM program for mechanical systems in Residence Halls and Housing office.

Supervision of HVAC and Plumbing Technicians including training and quarterly/annual performance reviews.

Reviews the work of contractors.

Review and assign work orders before and after completion.

Review BAS daily.

Collaborate and design on system improvements and modifications.

Other Work Responsibilities

Rotating on-call participation.

Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

Five years supervision experience of mechanical trades’ staff.

Must have work experience with HVAC and/or Plumbing. Preferably universal license and/or NC Plumbing license.

Must have knowledge and understanding of Chillers, Heat Pumps, Boilers (domestic and heat), Fan Coil Units and Cooling Towers.
