03-Sep-2019 Close All Job SummaryThe Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) at the University of Colorado, Boulder, has an immediate opening for a Web/Application Developer with experience in Drupal/PHP/MySQL and JavaScript. This university staff position will work with the CIRES IT team and associated stakeholders to develop and maintain internal business applications, and to develop and maintain Drupal sites.
CIRES seeks candidates who are qualified to implement and manage a development and production infrastructure utilizing current DevOps standards. In addition candidates must have experience developing with PHP, MySQL, and a JavaScript framework (such as ReactJS). Candidates should have a working knowledge of business application code development, be able to work within a team environment, and provide training and insight to other team members in order to meet development deadlines. The incumbent will work under the direction of the CIRES Director of IT. The successful candidate will be familiar Drupal development and will have written web applications utilizing PHP and/or Javascript.Who We AreAt CIRES, the Cooperative Institute for Research In Environmental Sciences, more than 800 environmental scientists work to understand the dynamic Earth system, including people’s relationship with the planet. CIRES is a partnership of NOAA and the University of Colorado Boulder, and our areas of expertise include weather and climate, changes at Earth’s poles, air quality and atmospheric chemistry, water resources, and solid Earth sciences. Our vision is to be instrumental in ensuring a sustainable future environment by advancing scientific and societal understanding of the Earth system.What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
  • Develop and maintain Drupal websites.
  • Prepare, manage and deploy custom software created in-house.
  • Assist in reviewing MySQL Schemas including new tables and modification of current tables.
  • Create and review Class Diagrams and cross application communication.
  • Track and manage bug reports for custom software.
  • Provide both internal and external software documentation with high-code readability.
  • Provide application support to all CIRES members via multiple communication paths.
  • Help Desk, Email, Phone, In-person support.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science (or Information Technology) or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with managing and developing Drupal websites.
  • Experience in PHP, MySQL or like development environment.
  • Experience in working with users to meet UI/UX goals (experience producing an interface for a user)

  • Drupal 7.x and Drupal 8.x custom module development.
  • Web Development in a LAMP stack.
  • Experience with current JavaScript Frameworks such as AngularJS.
  • Advanced knowledge in Linux monitoring, troubleshooting and administration.
  • Experience with programming/scripting languages such as Perl, Python, Java, Ruby, C.
  • Experience writing and optimizing MySQL Queries.
  • Experience in developing code that meets current security standards.
  • Experience in implementing software/hardware to accommodate business needs.
  • Experience with Git version control.
