The position consults with students in need of writing support and/or connects them with peer and professional staff. The Lead is responsible for publicizing services on campus, along with hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising peer tutors. The position manages Appointment Assistant schedules, updates forms, and creates reports. Professional development opportunities will be possible upon request and review.

Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge and Ability to Perform the Following:
Develop Writing Center schedule and provide staffing that supports student needs for fall & spring semesters.
Publicize services; create and post signage for closures and unplanned absences
Assist students with writing assignments in all subject areas through progressive stages of the writing process, from brainstorming topics to submission.
Ask questions and provide feedback on written drafts to guide revisions.
Participate in training sessions (times and dates vary) and staff meetings.
Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate peer tutors.
Facilitate use and generate reports from college approved software program.
Work with faculty to understand assignments and exam expectations and timelines. Predict and plan for times of heavy traffic in the Writing Center.
Collaborate with faculty to promote use of the Writing Center.
Visit classrooms to promote the Writing Center.
Engage in on-going professional development and scholarly activity.

Submit writing samples for review before interview.

Plan, develop and pursue a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist student learning
Understand writing requirements within a variety of disciplines
Working Conditions/Physical RequirementsLibrary (quiet) work environment
Flexibility with schedule, determined by student needs with possible evening and/or weekend hours
Ability to provide services at nearby campus locations
