STATUS: Part-time

DEPARTMENT: Instructional Media Services

DIVISION:Information Technology

CLASSIFICATION:Non-exempt

UNION:Support and Technical

REPORTS TO: Manager, Media Services

PLACEMENT:Support Staff, Grade 5

MINIMUM PAY RATE:$ 16.27per hour

POSITION SUMMARY:
The media technician assistant position provides quality audio visual services for the college with a focus on classroom technology. Works mainly at the main campus and is a point of contact for end-users looking for assistance. Troubleshoots/escalates issues and assists on the phone or in-person with all areas provided by the media services department. Ensures the office is well maintained and equipment is delivered or picked up. Handles video file transfers and some video editing as needed.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Examine classroom equipment regularly for proper operation. Assist with A/V installs, preventative maintenance, upgrades and replacement.
2.Support and assist with media-related services such as graphic design, photography and video/multimedia production.
3.Help coordinate and assist in the daily distribution and setup of AV/multimedia equipment such as PA systems, data projectors etc.
4.Provide instructions and assist users with the operation of AV equipment.
5.Assist with maintaining inventory levels of appropriate materials and supplies.
6.General office responsibilities, including phone, data entry and maintaining clean environment.
7.Participate in goals and objectives of Media Services and the college.
8.Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1.Working knowledge of AV/multimedia equipment.
2.High school diploma or equivalent.
3.One (1) year of related experience.
4.Strong computer skills.
5.Effective verbal and written communication skills, and ability and willingness to work cooperatively with a diverse population.
6.General knowledge of office practices, procedures and experience working in a team environment with a customer focus.
7.Attentiveness to detail, multitasking and initiative with the ability to work accurately and efficiently.
8.Willing to work a flexible schedule from mid-afternoon to early evening and possibly include weekend hours.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1.Associate’s degree.
2.Familiarity with both Mac and PC.
3.Experience with graphic design and photo and video manipulation software.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1.Normal AV/Media office-type physical activity.
2.Ability to travel between campus locations.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Most duties performed indoors; some exterior work may be required.
