Job Description Summary

The Security Guard- Special Events and Saint Leo Bus Driver have a variety of responsibilities including campus safety, special events management/crowd control, and transportation.

Job Description

Duties and Tasks:

  • Provide security at NCAA athletic events.
    • Ensure and maintain crowd control.
    • Escort officials at various times of the event.
    • Enforce University and NCAA policies.
    • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Provide security for University events.
    • Ensure and maintain crowd control.
    • Check ID’s if alcohol is present.
    • Enforce University policies.
    • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Drive the new 12-passenger “Saint Leo Bus” routes seven days a week.
  • Ensure passenger safety at loading and unloading zones and during transit
  • Assist students with disabilities in accessing the Bus
  • Drive special routes for needs such as hospital pick up and drop off; medical appointments of students; internship sites and part time job sites
  • Transport VIP’s during special events
  • Transport those with mobility issues during special events
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Drive holiday shuttles.
    • Tampa International Airport
    • Tampa Amtrak depot
    • Tampa Greyhound bus depot

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge:

  • [Required] High school diploma or GED
  • [Preferred] Associate Degree or higher from an accredited institution
  • Methods to deescalate situations when dealing with upset parents, students and faculty members or visitors to campus
  • Safe driving record
  • Basic car/van maintenance experience is preferred

Skills:

  • Exemplary customer service skills in working with a diversity of individuals and groups
  • Professionalism in representing Saint Leo University
  • High levels of initiative, ability to work well without oversight
  • Strong problem solving skills and the capability to make complex decisions
  • High level of comfort working in fast paced environment
  • Able to keep the Saint Leo fleet clean and serviced and ready for use

Abilities:

  • Ability to rate the severity of a student/ parent/ faculty issue and respond appropriately
  • Ability to plan complex events and have attention to detail
  • Ability to manage time between a variety of projects
  • Ability to complete tasks with high levels of accuracy
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing situations
  • The ability to manage individuals in crisis
  • Ability to work both in a team and independently
