Your opportunity:

The Engineering Strategic Communications team is a dynamic group of communications professionals who work together to tell the story of Canada's top engineering school in authentic and unexpected ways. Under general direction of the Communications & Media Relations Strategist, the Digital Content Coordinator will design a social media strategy and produce content that engages key audiences and enhances the visibility of the Faculty among the world's top engineering programs.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Implementing digital communication plans across a broad range of marketing/communication channels
  • Creating and maintaining presence on social media platforms
  • Researching and evaluating emerging social media platforms and partnerships
  • Maintaining information on digital platforms
  • Analyzing the effectiveness of campaigns and/or programs using metrics
  • Writing news and feature stories


CampusEssential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in corporate communications, public relations, journalism or related field or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum four years of professional editorial and writing experience.
  • Experience and knowledge of Canadian Press style, with the ability to copy-edit to a house style that offers some published exceptions.
  • Must be an early adopter of technology with excellent computer skills, including content management systems, digital publishing, and social media analytics tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully under pressure and consider revisions to copy from editors, supervisors and clients/content partners with the goal of creating effective communications.
  • Must be able to complete assignments with a minimum of supervision, while at the same time keeping supervisor and team-members fully informed of all project developments. Must be adept at juggling multiple deadlines, scheduling self and others and working independently.
  • Creative and solutions-oriented; passion for communications and story-telling.
  • Ability to generate new ideas, propose changes and encourage innovation.
  • Must be an enthusiastic and energetic team player who works collaboratively and diplomatically with others.
  • Must be able to succeed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must communicate and comport his/herself with professionalism at all times.

Assets (Nonessential):
  • Demonstrated experience with moderating an online community and good degree of social media experience an asset.
  • Experience writing about topics in engineering, science and technology and online writing experience preferred.
  • InDesign and Photoshop an asset (willingness and ability to learn these and other programs required)
