The Institute of Communication, Culture,Information and Technology (ICCIT) at the University of Toronto Mississaugainvites applications for a full-time teaching stream appointment in the area ofNarrative and Writing, at the rank of Assistant Professor, TeachingStream. The position start date is July 1, 2020, or shortly thereafter.

Candidates must have aPhD in communication, education, literature, narrative-related arts orjournalism or related fields by the appointment start date, or shortlythereafter. Excellence in teaching and pedagogical inquiry is required and can be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments,awards and accolades, presentations at significant conferences, the teachingdossier (outlining experience and accomplishments) submitted as part of the application including a strong teachingstatement, sample syllabi, course materials, and teaching evaluations, as wellas strong letters of reference.

Candidates should have demonstrated excellencein teaching creative nonfiction narrative, expressive writing, andnarrative-based research. Narrative, as we think of it here, involves theapplication of tools and techniques developed mainly through fiction and thearts applied to the purposes of nonfiction and journalism—that is, telling truestory with imaginative power and expressive skill. Successful candidates mustdemonstrate commitment to excellent pedagogical practices in the areas ofwriting pedagogy and narrative with publications that include scholarly,creative, and journalistic professional writing. Candidates should alsodemonstrate experience in facilitating and providing guidance for undergraduatestudent publications.

Salary will be commensurate with qualificationsand experience.
