 Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):

Master’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher degree). Five (5) years of full-time, directly-related experience in a higher education/academic environment providing administrative support to faculty/students at graduate levels. Experience developing, implementing or approving curriculum. Supervisory experience of professional staff. Highly proficient, professional experience in word-processing, spreadsheet, database management, electronic messaging and internet applications. Experience working with and maintaining confidential information. Experience interacting with individuals at various levels within an institution as well as the general public when necessary.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher degree) in Higher Education Administration, or Education. Experience and demonstrated proficiency using campus business systems (PeopleSoft,  Blackboard, Degree Works, Solar, SBU Reporting, Data Warehouse, 25Live, Tableau or other University data warehouses) for curriculum and/or course scheduling. Knowledge of Higher Education operations and trends. Experience with Academic Analytics. 

 

Brief Description of Duties:

The Executive Director of Educational Programs and Curriculum will be responsible for the program management and development of the HEA and all other Educational Leadership and Teacher Certification programs including direct oversight of faculty teaching, quality assessment, curriculum development, and the growth and development of SPD’s Educational Programs modalities.The Executive Director will act as internal program director for the HEA program and direct oversight for all SPD curriculum review and approval processes. The Executive Director will be part of the School of Professional Development's Senior Leadership team and will report directly to the Associate Vice President for Professional Education. 

 

The successful incumbent will have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational and time-management skills with an exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving.

 

Academic Oversight:

Develop and maintain policy as it relates to students’ academic success in conjunction with the SPD Council. 

Oversee the committee on academic standing with the assistance from the Director of Records and Admissions. 

Work with programs to look at retention trends and identify patterns with cohort students enrolling into campus programs. 

Enrollment Planning and Management:

Directly supervise all Program Directors related to Educational Programs (Educational Leadership, D-TALE, Higher Education Administration and all SUTRA/Off campus cohorts. 

Collaborate with program directors, administer, coordinate, and reconcile the School of Professional Developments graduate academic on campus and off campus year class schedule. 

Work with the Program Directors to review all faculty evaluations and make recommendations as needed. Work with Senior Leadership to edit the SPD Bulletin as needed

Curriculum and Development:

Conduct research and document results to support internal and external studies and reports and to forecast academic needs. 

Lead the SPD curriculum committee and ensure all materials approved are ready for State Education review.

Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.


Special Notes:

This is a full time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
