Director of Medical Student Support and Wellness Job Number Full/Part Time Schedule Salary 201907104001 Full Time 8AM - 5PM $61,600 - $121,200 Position Information The Director of Medical Student Support and Wellness maintains administrative oversight responsibilities in managing medical and graduate student counseling and wellness services. Specific program responsibilities include providing confidential counseling support services and oversight. management and evaluation of the medical student wellness programs. Assists medical students with achieving their true potential. Provides leadership, student academic retention services, evaluation and assessment of and referral of students with potential learning disabilities in addition to program development for at-risk medical students enrolled in the UCR School of Medicine who are not achieving standard academic progress. Provides general academic wellness support for all School of Medicine students as needed and tailored support for special populations. Education Education Requirements Degree Requirement Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required Doctoral degree in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, behavioral health or related field. Preferred
Licenses License Requirement Current CA license as a mental health provider, LCSW, LPCC, MFT or psychologist. Preferred
Experience Experience Requirement 6 - 10 years of related experience. Required Experience working with diverse populations including diversity in race, ethnic groups, sexual orientation, gender identify, religion, ability, socio-economic status and first generation college students. Required Experience providing counseling in a higher education setting. Preferred Previous experience working with graduate or medical school students. Preferred
Special Conditions Special Condition Requirement Ability to work occasional evenings and/or weekends to participate in various SOM activities. Required Ability to work before 8am and/or 5pm to accommodate student appointments. Required Availability for phone counseling emergencies, as needed. Required
Minimum Requirements Experience in establishing and implementing short and long term program goals and objectives; demonstrated effectiveness in mediation and conflict resolution.
Knowledge of and experience in conflict management and intervention strategies.
Skill in projecting and monitoring a budget for program implementation.
Knowledge of academic curricula; strong knowledge of the organizational climate, structure/organizations, and culture.
Knowledge and experience in researching, compiling and analyzing data, and generating reports; extensive experience in developing evaluative instruments specific to programs/projects goals and objectives.
Demonstrated competencies and advanced knowledge in theories of multicultural counseling, learning, identity development, human and career development.
Advanced experience in planning, developing, and administering enrichment programs/projects, academic and personal development seminars, courses, and workshops.
Extensive experience in multicultural competencies, and personal and academic crisis intervention; working with students to assist in clarification of ethics and values.
Demonstrated experience in planning, developing, and administering evaluative instruments for measuring program effectiveness.
Knowledge in the methodologies used to enhance student achievement, such as collaborative teaching/learning models, strategies for effective counseling and peer mentoring, small group facilitation and training, coaching, mentoring and advocacy.
Ability to implement appropriate support services and accommodations based on documentation appropriate for students with learning and psychological disabilities. Working knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Assembly Bill 746 as they pertain to students with LD, ADHD, ABI and psychological disabilities.
Excellent oral communication, public speaking and written communication skills.
Knowledge and experience in working with historically underrepresented ethnic minority communities, first generation college students.
Knowledge and experience in managing funds designated for special programs.
Advanced experience in group dynamics, facilitation, and training; comprehensive assessment of academic preparation and personal competencies.
High degree of independent decision-making and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to prioritize competing needs and tasks from students, faculty, staff and campus partners.
Proven track record in exercising discretion and effective judgement in decision-making processes.
Preferred Qualifications Advanced knowledge of research methodologies and research designs.

Background in learning theory, and innovative use of technology in educational settings.
