Collection Maintenance Stack Shift Project Monitor Job Number Full/Part Time Schedule Salary 201908065001 Full Time Other $43,869 - $56,898 Position Information Under the general supervision of the Head of Collection Maintenance, Collection Maintenance Stack Shift Project Monitor is responsible for monitoring and providing coordination where appropriate for all aspects of multiple shift projects in the library stacks; performs work independently and uses paraprofessional and advanced operational and technical skills involving a general knowledge of library practices and procedures; assists in directing student assistants in maintaining an efficient workflow for the Collection Maintenance Unit; responsible for providing assistance and administering public service functions and transactions to a wide variety of patrons at the Circulation/Reserves Desk. The incumbent's primary responsibilities and tasks will be at the Rivera Library, but will also be have responsibilities in the Orbach Library. Must be able to work Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Must be able to work flexible hours for staffing in backup situations - days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Hours may vary from quarter to quarter.

NOTE: This position is not an ongoing appointment; it is established and funded for 18 months or less due to funding. Minimum Requirements Knowledge of the Library of Congress classification system.

Knowledge of the Superintendent of Documents (SUDOCS) Classification system.

Knowledge of stacks maintenance procedures and practices.

Experience in a computer-reliant work environment and the ability to learn specialized software.

Demonstrated experience using an integrated management library system such as ExLibris (Alma) or similar.

Demonstrated skill in organizing, monitoring, and setting priorities for a heavy workload with multiple tasks and competing deadlines.

Communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work cooperatively with library staff, student assistants, and patrons with diverse backgrounds.

Skill in using tact and diplomacy in dealing with a wide variety of people and ability to remain calm under pressure.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills sufficient to communicate effectively in person, via email, over the telephone.

Typing skills sufficient to enter data accurately.

Ability to understand, follow and execute detailed instructions.

Ability to use judgement in applying appropriate guidelines to specific tasks and to make decisions.

Math skills sufficient to accurately gather and compile statistics.

Must be able to bend, stoop, lift, and push loaded book trucks weighing up to approximately 250 lbs.

Must be able to clear a background investigation as required by state law and University regulations. Preferred Qualifications Academic Library experience or similar.

Demonstrated experience using spreadsheet, word processing and database programs.

Demonstrated ability to export data.

Demonstrated success working in a collaborative, team-based work environment.

Previous experience working in a Circulation/Reserves unit.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

Previous experience training, guiding, directing and reviewing the work of student employees.

Experience handling safety and emergency situations.
