Claflin University seeks to hire a full-time Assistant Upward Bound Director.

Responsibilities

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • The Assistant Director of Upward Bound assists in the supervision of Upward Bound staff and manages the daily operations of project activities.
  • Assist the TRIO/UB Director in the supervision of the UB staff, and ensure all staff are adhering to Claflin policies, practices, protocols, and procedures as well as applicable federal guidelines and regulations in the course of daily work activities and practices.
  • Assist with developing, implementing and facilitating professional development trainings, meetings and activities for the continuous improvement of the program staff.
  • Responsible for monitoring, maintaining and ensuring the ongoing networking aspects of the participant’s electronic database (Blumen) for UB.
  • Assist the TRIO/UB Director in the weekly reconciling, balancing and tracking of the UB budget in order to ensure the fiscal integrity and fiscal controls of UB funds.
  • Assists the TRIO/UB Director in budget forecasting and strategic management for academic year and summer programming, including events and transportation.
  • Conduct frequent site visits to partnering schools to monitor the UB staff in order to ensure quality control of the rendering and implementation of TRIO services.
  • Assist the UB staff with the identification and recruitment process to enroll and serve eligible students.
  • Assist program staff in the monitoring and tracking of all participating and graduating TRIO program participants.
  • Conduct relevant UB workshops and presentations for parents and students.
  • Responsible for ensuring all UB equipment is properly secured, managed, inventoried, stored, tracked, loaned, and returned according to organizational protocol.
  • Assist the TRIO/UB Director to locate and secure additional resources and continuous support to maximize opportunities and resources.
  • All other relevant duties as assigned.
Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications: A master’s degree in Counseling, Education, Psychology, Sociology or related area. Minimum of five years’ work experience in a high school or college counseling setting. Minimum five years supervisory experience. Minimum five years’ work experience with low-income, disadvantaged and/or minority communities. Ability to communicate effectively with constituents within the community, the faculty, staff and administration. Technical writing experience. Grant writing would be an added plus.
