The Citadel’s Tommy and Victoria Baker School of Business is expanding. We have a new name, innovative new academic programs, and we are in the process of constructing a new academic building that opens in 2020. We offer AACSB-accredited undergraduate degrees in Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain, and General Business. New undergraduate degrees in Marketing and Management are also under development. Our growth has created faculty openings for individuals that want to join an established team dedicated to producing principled leaders in all walks of life.

The Baker School of Business invites applications for a tenure-track position in finance at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor beginning in August 2020. This is a full-time teaching, research and service position. Faculty within the School typically teach a 3/3 course load with appropriate research and service expectations.

Job Responsibilities:

Faculty members are expected to create and implement an innovative finance curriculum that integrates both theory and practice, incorporates the Bastin Financial Leadership Lab, emphasizes data analytics using Bloomberg terminals and other data sources, and features real-world applications of finance and financial analysis. The school currently offers a variety of finance courses, including corporate finance, personal finance, financial analytics, risk management, investments, portfolio management, and financial markets and institutions at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Faculty members are expected to maintain established accreditation standards through publication of quality research. Faculty members are also expected to contribute to the mission of the School through service to the institution and to the profession, by mentoring students and providing academic and career advising, and through development of experiential learning activities.

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants must have an earned doctorate from an AACSB-accredited business program and demonstrate the ability to effectively teach finance courses both face to face and online. Applicants must demonstrate research potential, and provide evidence of appropriate service activities. Advanced ABD candidates will be considered, but must have the degree in hand by the start date of August 2020 as a condition of employment. Salary will be competitive, and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Summer teaching opportunities are abundant, especially in the online format.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred qualifications include Bloomberg certification; experience with student managed investment funds; relevant experience in industry, the military, or other organizational contexts; and professional certifications such as CFA, CFP, FRM, and ChFC.
