Position Summary

The National College of Education of National Louis University (NLU) is pleased to announce its search for an Assistant Professor of School Psychology and seeks nominations and applications. This is a full-time, renewable position beginning January 1, 2020. Funds to support a supplemental summer stipend beginning immediately are also available. Search begins immediately and will continue until a highly qualified candidate is identified, with primary consideration given to those who apply by October 30, 2019.

We are seeking a team-oriented, collaborative colleague who has both PK-12 school-based experience in delivering high-quality contemporary school psychology services and experience within higher education in providing high-quality graduate education to future school psychologists. Consideration for Associate Professor rank and tenure eligibility are available for a highly qualified candidate with higher education teaching and leadership experience.

The School Psychology Program is one of three NASP-accredited programs in the dynamic Chicago area. Our student body is racially and ethnically diverse with more than 40% of students from under-represented demographic groups. The Program itself focuses on preparing school psychologists in contemporary roles as problem solvers who use direct and indirect research-based interventions to improve outcomes for all students, especially those at risk for poor life outcomes.

The faculty member will teach courses primarily in the School Psychology Program, advise and direct Ed.S students, and provide service to the School Psychology profession and the National College of Education. Ideally, the individual will serve in shared program chair and instructional leadership roles within the school psychology program including some program administration, evaluation and program development.

  • Experience in meeting the academic, behavioral and social emotional needs of schools, teachers, parents, and students through research-based practices.
  • Experience in higher education teaching and clinical supervision of school psychology students.

Additionally, preference will be given to candidates who have:
  • Nationally Certified School Psychology (NCSP) status.
  • Experience in Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) or other behavior support service delivery models
