Job Description:

The focus of this position is on the technology required to design and represent sustainable landscapes. The successful candidates are expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, supervise graduate student research, contribute significantly to the advancement of green technology, site engineering, and digital visualization and fabrication as evidenced by scholarly publications and/or awarding-winning design projects. Teaching responsibilities will be at the undergraduate and graduate levels with potential courses including: design studios, site engineering, digital design representation, and a specialty course that supports their scholarship. Knowledge of digital representation tools for landscape visualization is required, as well as the principles and techniques of site engineering. Candidates should have experience with theory and practice regarding sustainable landscape design and construction and with emerging programs and practices that advance landscape sustainability and resilience. Experience in applied research, design, and professional practice is a critical need for this position. The Department promotes cross-disciplinary research and practice with allied programs at the University including Architecture, Building and Construction Technology, Engineering, and Information Technology. Requirements:

Candidates must have:

• An accredited landscape architecture degree (undergraduate or graduate);
• A graduate degree (masters or doctorate) in landscape architecture or a related field;
• Demonstrated capacity for scholarly research or design which may include peer-reviewed scholarship and award-winning creative work;
• Demonstrated research expertise or design excellence in the field of landscape technology, especially green technology, site engineering, and digital visualization and fabrication.

In addition, preferred qualifications may include:

• Professional experience in landscape architecture;
• Demonstrated capacity for teaching;
• Demonstrated ability to attain external funding to support research or design work;
• Landscape architecture licensure.

Additional Information:

The Department of Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning (LARP) is one of the few programs where planning and design are in the same academic department, and enjoys a national and international reputation with a focus on sustainability. We are a collegial department with a new, award-winning building and investment by the university. The Department has accredited programs in Landscape Architecture (MLA, BSLA), and Regional Planning (MRP). We also offer a PhD in Regional Planning, a B.S. in Sustainable Community Development, and Associate degree in Landscape Contracting.
