•Bachelor’s Degree
•Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student College Personnel, Counseling, or related field
•Experience with student employee supervision in a university setting, at a minimum of one year
•Experience advising a programming board in a university setting, at a minimum of one year
•Ability to understand and interpret university policies, procedures, entertainment, contracts/riders, and copyright laws
•Ability to work in a crisis situation; knowledge of risk management as it relates to event planning
•Experience building partnerships and collaborating across departments in a university setting
The Coordinator for Campus Activities is responsible for the advising and supervision of the student staff and programmatic activities of the Student Association for Campus Activities (SACA). This position will lead the student through the programming process by providing leadership development, identifying and assessing needs of students, training staff, fostering collaboration with partners internal and external to the University, managing and mitigating risk, and ensuring compliance with Department, Division, and University policy and procedures. This position will supervise two Graduate Assistants for Campus Activities. The program coordinator may also be tasked with programming and assisting with events outside the scope of the programming board, working with the Assistant Director for Student Involvement on university-wide initiatives including but not limited to Weeks of Welcome, Homecoming, and end of year events.
This position reports to the Assistant Director for Student Involvement. The regularly scheduled work week may be adjusted to meet the needs of student programs and services within the office.
Job Duties•Serves as member of the Student Involvement team coordinating 40+ programming events through the Student Association for Campus Activities throughout the year, including regular programming in the LBJ Student Center.
•Advise and supervise the Student Association for Campus Activities (SACA) in programming operations and promotions for the purpose of providing activities and leadership opportunities for officers and members
•Provides on-site supervision of designated SACA events to oversee use of facilities, compliance with policies, hospitality for performer(s), and to assist in problem resolution
•Supports the development of goals and student learning outcomes for SACA, and the assessment of these goals and outcomes
•Provides training for student leaders regarding effective programming practices, and is a part of the Student Involvement team at large, providing training and leadership development for students; holds regular, published office hours for students with questions or concerns about programs to drop in for resources and support, and serves as a resource for students
•Provides training and oversight for marketing and social media platforms
•Supervise and develop two Graduate Assistants and student interns for campus activities programs
•Approve and monitor expenditures for SACA; ensure that monthly reconciliation of accounts is completed in a timely manner
•Make class presentations on involvement to University Seminar classes
•Assist with the management of databases, reports, social media, and web site planning and updates; Support the division in developing greater visibility for student activities and organizations
•Serve as an investigator adjudicating organization conduct cases, as assigned
•Serve and participate on university committees, as deemed appropriate
•Sit on employee selection committees, as requested
•Support all other Student Involvement programs and services
•Work on special projects and perform other duties as assigned by the LBJ Student Center Assistant Director, Associate Director, and/or Director
•May work in all weather conditions.
•May work around standard office conditions.
•Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
•Use of manual dexterity.
•Security Sensitive – criminal background check conducted; conviction verification conducted on applicant selected.
•Frequent attendance at night and weekend meetings/events is required.
•Additional hours may be required during peak periods.
