The University of Southern Maine is searching for an individual to join our Facilities Management team as a Lead Facilities Maintenance Worker CL2. Directly working on and maintaining athletic grounds and playing surfaces, this position is primarily assigned to our Gorham Campus athletic facilities. Benefits Information Summary

The primary work schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and may be adjusted seasonally based on demand and use of facilities.

Statement of Job: The Lead Facilities Maintenance Worker coordinates and participates in routine work assignments which may include general field and playing surface maintenance and/or equipment upkeep and repair. This position will be assigned to athletic playing surfaces primarily on the Gorham campus for events, projects, and maintenance. This position will work to promote a strong and cohesive team that supports the University’s student focused every day mission.

Essential Job Functions (include but not limited to):

  • Direct support of reactive and preventative maintenance for athletic playing surfaces.
  • Leading individuals assigned to support on-campus events taking place on athletic playing surfaces.
  • Provide on-site event coverage as needed for a variety of events that take place on playing surfaces (baseball, softball, lacrosse, field hockey, soccer, basketball, track, ice hockey, external rentals, etc.)
  • Perform regular maintenance and upkeep on a variety of playing surfaces.
  • Coordinate in-house preventative maintenance of playing surfaces (turf, floor finishing, ice out, etc.).
Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) AND sufficient experience, including four years of related work experience.
  • Valid State of Maine driver’s license that meets requirements to operate University vehicles and equipment.
  • Knowledgebase and ability to perform physical work associated with athletic maintenance and event support.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Effective customer service and communication skills.
