The University of Southern Maine is searching for an individual to join our Facilities Management team as a Lead Facilities Maintenance Worker CL2. Directly working on and maintaining athletic grounds and playing surfaces, this position is primarily assigned to our Gorham Campus athletic facilities. Statement of Job: The Lead Facilities Maintenance Worker coordinates and participates in routine work assignments which may include general field and playing surface maintenance and/or equipment upkeep and repair. This position will be assigned to athletic playing surfaces primarily on the Gorham campus for events, projects, and maintenance. This position will work to promote a strong and cohesive team that supports the University’s student focused every day mission.

Essential Job Functions (include but not limited to):

• Direct support of reactive and preventative maintenance for athletic playing surfaces.
• Leading individuals assigned to support on-campus events taking place on athletic playing surfaces.
• Provide on-site event coverage as needed for a variety of events that take place on playing surfaces (baseball, softball, lacrosse, field hockey, soccer, basketball, track, ice hockey, external rentals, etc.)
• Perform regular maintenance and upkeep on a variety of playing surfaces.
• Coordinate in-house preventative maintenance of playing surfaces (turf, floor finishing, ice out, etc.).

Qualifications:

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) AND sufficient experience, including four years of related work experience.
• Valid State of Maine driver’s license that meets requirements to operate University vehicles and equipment.
• Knowledgebase and ability to perform physical work associated with athletic maintenance and event support.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Effective customer service and communication skills.
