Full-Time Lecturer or Clinical Faculty Position in Negotiation and Alternative Dispute Resolution 


The O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs (O’Neill) at Indiana University, Bloomington campus, invites applications for a full-time Lecturer or Clinical faculty position in the areas of negotiation and alternative dispute resolution. Qualifications for this position are: an advanced degree in negotiation and/or conflict resolution, or a J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school and at least 5 years practicing law; significant professional experience in negotiation and alternative dispute resolution; teaching or extensive presentation experience; and commitment to high quality teaching and student mentoring. Though not required, the following are preferred: advanced professional training and/or certification in negotiation or alternative dispute resolution; classroom teaching experience, particularly at the college level; training or practice in areas of O’Neill’s undergraduate curriculum such as environmental law, labor and employment law, health law, public law, or ethics.

Lecturer and Clinical faculty members are expected to focus on teaching (including course development and delivery and the incorporation of innovative teaching techniques), as well as on teaching-related service such as student advising and curriculum development. Clinical faculty are also expected to actively engage in service to relevant academic and practitioner communities. Lecturers and Clinical faculty are eligible for promotions to higher ranks within lines (Lecturer to Senior Lecturer; Clinical Assistant to Clinical Associate and Clinical Full).

The standard teaching assignment for Lecturers and Clinical faculty is six courses per year. The candidate will teach primarily in the undergraduate program. Lecturer and Clinical faculty are not eligible for tenure, but will be considered for promotion and/or long-term contracts no later than the sixth year of appointment. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The expected start date is either January 1, 2020 or August 1, 2020, depending on candidate schedule.
