Position Summary

NYU’s Stern School of Business has an exciting opportunity for an Advisement Counselor in the Undergraduate College. The selected candidate will provide academic advising, general counseling, and related student services for prospective, new, and currently enrolled students primarily, but not exclusively within the Stern School of Business. S/he will familiarize students with the many academic and co-curricular resources and opportunities available at Stern and New York University as a whole. The selected candidate facilitate opportunities for Advising to partner with offices, programs and individual partners from across Stern and the University to promote and foster a sense of inclusion, diversity, belonging and equity for Stern students. The Advisement Counselor will also will develop and coordinate academic support programming, promote study away opportunities, and assist in interviewing candidates for international exchanges and various student leadership positions and/or Stern sponsored programs. S/he will help update and monitor website and marketing of academic programs through the use of social media, webinars, and publications. Finally, the selected candidate will master NYU and Stern specific systems for the management of student information data, student success initiatives, paperless filing and appointment scheduling, and assist with projects to run database reports and the analysis thereof.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree and 3 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Must include counseling, student personnel administration and event planning experience. Excellent project management, organizational skills, attention to detail, interpersonal skills, and verbal and written communication skills are required. Must be comfortable multi-tasking in a fast-paced professional environment. Conflict and dispute resolution skills are essential.
