Position Summary

Arts and Science is seeking an organized Laboratory Technician to join the Department of Biology. This individual will pepare solutions and compounds for laboratory experiments and instructions. Maintain laboratory animals; clean animals and observe for signs of illness; assist with surgical implantations. Operate laboratory equipment requiring significant specialized training. Perform tests to ensure that lab equipment is operating to standards. Perform routine maintenance and simple repair of equipment. Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed.

Qualifications

Required Education:High School diploma or equivalent and some relevant technical training.Preferred Education:Relevant certification.Required Experience:1-2 years of related experience.Preferred Experience:Experience at a university laboratory.Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Knowledge of and ability to operate relevant lab equipment (e.g., stimulators, centrifuge, oscilloscope, spectrophotometer, autoclaves, etc.). Ability to operate standard office equipment.
