Minimum Qualifications

•Bachelor’s Degree in a directly relevant field such as Computer Science, IT, or Web Science
•One year experience working in responsive, accessible web development with Drupal
•or an equivalent combination of education and experience (Bachelor’s Degree in non-technical field and 3-5 years of experience working in responsive, accessible web development in Drupal).
•Experience with Git or similar

Preferred Qualifications

•Experience working with JSON, APIs, and Google Analytics a plus

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

•Comprehensive understanding of web development technologies including PHP, MySQL, jQuery, HTML5, and CSS3
•Ability to determine functional requirements from wireframes and feature requests
•Ability to continuously learn and apply new technologies
•Motivated, focused and self-guiding; works well on a small team
•Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to interact with both technical and non-technical audiences.
•Ability to work with limited direction, and to work on more than one project/task at a time
•Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, academic/research environment
•Ability to independently troubleshoot problems
•Ability to explain technical topics, and give presentations to, and write for an internal audience
•Ability to modify, maintain, and manage complex software systems.
•Ability to perform system administration of web-based systems.
•Understanding of web and Internet protocols, standards, and practices; Understanding of usability and accessibility principles and testing

Additional Information

The Web Developer supports and maintains the existing LAMP web servers and Drupal systems at Rensselaer and with support from the Senior Web Developer creates and implements new web/Internet-based systems and applications. The Web Developer will participate in the planning, designing, developing and implementation of new interconnected systems. The Web Developer provides technical guidance and collaborates with the web producers and designers in planning, policy and implementation activities.
