The Department of Computer Science at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) invites outstanding applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor faculty position in computer science, to join our community starting August 2020.

We are seeking broadly trained applicants from all areas of computer science, who have the potential to establish a highly visible undergraduate research program and who are passionate about teaching computer science in a primarily undergraduate, residential, liberal arts-centered institution. The successful candidate will also display dedication to inclusive excellence in STEM and higher education.

The successful candidate will teach computer science courses at all levels of the curriculum (introductory-, mid-, and advanced-level) and will develop innovative, upper-level courses that complement and diversify the department’s offerings. We welcome candidates in all areas of research specialization, especially those that complement and diversify the department’s existing strengths. We are especially interested in applicants whose research and pedagogy will connect and integrate computer science with other disciplines, and who have the potential to collaboratively contribute to interdisciplinary curricular and scholarly efforts within the School of Science and at the College.

Teaching and research are mutually supportive activities at TCNJ. Candidates should be strongly committed to the teacher-scholar model, to maintaining both high-quality teaching and an active and productive research program involving highly motivated undergraduates, and to seeking external funding consistent with this mission. Faculty members serve as academic advisors and have service responsibilities within the Department, School, and College. Research space in our new building and competitive start-up funds will be provided.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science, or a closely related field (ABDs will be considered if the degree will be completed prior to the start date); demonstrated excellence in teaching; and a strong commitment to the education of, and research with, undergraduates.

  • At least one commenting on teaching effectiveness, and

  • At least one commenting on scholarly research and professional engagement.

About the Department of Computer Science:

The Computer Science program is ABET CAC-accredited, and offers state-of-the-art laboratories and equipment, including a new high-performance computing cluster. Since Fall 2017 the Computer Science Department is housed in TCNJ’s new STEM building. Collaborative research with talented undergraduates frequently results in peer-reviewed, published scientific works. The Department of Computer Science is part of the School of Science, along with the Departments of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Statistics, and Physics.
