About Bunker Hill Community College:

Bunker Hill Community College is a multi-campus institution with vibrant, urban campuses in Boston, Massachusetts, in nearby Chelsea, Massachusetts, and at three satellite locations in the Greater Boston area. Founded in 1973, BHCC is the largest of the 15 community colleges in Massachusetts, serving some 18,000 students annually across all modes of instruction. Job Description:

The Department of History and Social Sciences inquires about the world through six different fields of study: economics, geography, government (political science), history, philosophy and religious studies. We are currently seeking part-time faculty to teach Introduction to Philosophy and/or related courses in philosophy in the Department of History and Social Sciences, in fall 2019. For a full list of course offerings, see the BHCC College Catalog, http://bhcc.mass.edu/catalog/ . Please note that courses may be available at the BHCC Charlestown or Chelsea campuses, or additional BHCC instructional sites in Greater Boston.

Requirements:

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Philosophy or equivalent study and experience in related fields with a specialization in philosophy (related fields include but are not limited to: Asian Studies, African American Studies, Critical Theory, Latin American Studies, Islamic Studies, Gender Studies, or Theology)
• Evidence of inclusive and critical approach to philosophy
• Experience with high impact teaching and learning practices (examples: undergraduate research, community engagement, critical pedagogies culturally responsive pedagogies, learning communities)
• Proven ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff and student population
• College-level teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Expertise associated with philosophy in regions other than Europe strongly preferred
• Evidence of teaching experience in blended, online or hybrid modalities preferred
• Proven ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff and student population
• Community college teaching experience preferred

QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL BE INVITED TO ATTEND THE ADJUNCT ACADEMY PRIOR TO BEING ASSIGNED COURSES.

Additional Information:

Salary: $1,104.00 per credit hour

Effective Date: Fall semester 2019; open until filled
