Description

The Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Medicine, in tandem with the Division of Molecular Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Position. The laboratory is located within CHS under the direction of Dr. Soban Umar, MD, PhD addressing topics related to molecular mechanism of pulmonary hypertension and right heart dysfunction with a focus on novel therapeutics.

Requirements:

1). Appointee must possess a recent doctorate degree, in the field of molecular cardiology, and pulmonary vascular biology.

2). Appointee is expected to have demonstrated accomplishment and excellence in molecular biology, biochemistry and pathophysiology related to pulmonary vascular biology, heart dysfunction and animal models of heart and lung disease.

3). Appointee should have demonstrated track record in independent study with a strong trajectory towards independent extramural funding.

4). Appointee is expected to have demonstrated leadership ability to direct a team of students, research staff and research fellows, interacting with collaborators, prepare research proposals and publications independently.

5). Appointee should have achieved significant recognition from the peers in the field as an emerging authority in the topic of his/her study.

6). Appointee will be working independently on his/her project and will be expected to analyze and publish data in a timely manner. Appointee must have excellent scientific communication, presentation and writing skills, as well as very good critical and analytical problem-solving skills and strong work ethics.
