Job Description Summary

Student Affairs
•Lead the overall planning and management of student life and administration of student policies and procedures in TCS and Honors Programs (TCS/Honors).
•Recruit, train and supervise the Student Life Coordinator. Provide direction, advise and conduct regular performance evaluations.
•Serve as the back-up staff member on-call for residence hall and student problems or emergencies (arrange transportation to after-hours health care at the emergency room as needed; manage other situations requiring staff intervention).
•Coordinate response to crises and other unusual events affecting students within the TCS/Honors residential community.
•Oversee the development and implementation of the student conduct system within TCS/Honors. Develop and implement the student grievance and discipline processes. Advise the Student Life Coordinator in student conduct cases. Where appropriate, help develop appropriate sanctions and follow-up with families and University staff.
•Chair TCS disciplinary committee and serve as The Clarkson School Title IX liaison and co-investigator in student-on-student reports of sexual misconduct.
•Liaise with other Student Affairs and Campus Life offices. Attend Student Affairs committee meetings as requested, including Residential Facilities/Maintenance meetings and Safety Net (behavioral concerns team).
•Plan and organize community-building activities for the Clarkson School and Honors Program students throughout the year including orientation, commencement programs, monthly TCS family dinners, field trips, and special events.
•Coordinate the monthly Clarkson School e-newsletters and work with student committee on the annual TCS yearbook.
•Maintain up to date information on TCS/Honors student affairs on the relevant web pages and social media.
Alumni Relations
•Coordinate alumni relations for TCS/Honors.
•Serve as the liaison to the Office of Alumni Relations and Philanthropy and TCS/Honors alumni affinity groups.
•Lead alumni outreach initiatives.
•Organize events during Alumni Weekend and get-togethers with regional alumni during TCS/Honors field trips.
•Coordinate the bi-annual meetings of the Honors Advisory Council.
•Manage social media communications with alumni.
Recruitment and Admissions
•Participate as a member of the Admissions Committee of both TCS and the Honors Program.
•Undertake preliminary review of applications.
•Participate in interviews of candidates for admissions to the Honors Program
Student research conferences
•Collaborate with Director of the Honors Program in the planning and execution of the bi-annual Research and Project Showcase (RAPS). Lead logistical planning, manage web-based registrations and publication of program, oversee student workers and volunteers, assist Program Committee.
Administration of TCS/Honors
•Partner with the Director of the Honors Program in the administration of the Honors Leadership Program. Maintain web-based course management system, track student progress, and coordinate feedback. Organize annual student retreat and coordinate guest speaker visits.
•Oversee residence and student activities for the Summer Research Program, including: management of application process and housing assignments; selection, training, and operations of the Summer Residential Advisor staff; coordination of weekly research meetings; organization and leadership of field trips; and serving as the primary staff member on-call for residence hall and student problems or emergencies.
Other Duties
•Attend professional development conferences to stay informed on national and international trends in early college entrance programs and honors programs/colleges. Where appropriate, organize student participation in these conferences.
•Establish and assess measurable student learning outcomes, program goals, and objectives in assigned areas of responsibility; maintain reports, surveys and other records of accomplishments, appropriate student learning outcomes, and departmental needs.
•Compile and analyze data related to student participation and program evaluation; develop organizational work processes that facilitate attainment of established program goals and objectives.
•Perform other related duties as requested by Associate Head of School and Head of School/Director of the Honors Program.

Education:
Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration or equivalent
Experience:
1 year professional experience in student affairs or alumni relations
Skills:
•Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
•Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with a wide range of personnel, both on and off campus
•Excellent communication skills, including website and social media management
•Ability to relate to students and to motivate them in leadership and service
•Ability to work effectively in a team
•Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy when handling sensitive and confidential issues
•Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.
•Self-direction, ability to pro-actively seek out opportunities and execute upon them.
•Proficient with Microsoft Office; experience with databases to retrieve and analyze data.
•Strong time management skills
•Commitment to confidentiality, tact and discretion.
•Strong interpersonal skills and positive work ethic; must be flexible and enjoy working in a collaborative, team-oriented atmosphere.
•Ability to build strong partnering relationships, with the ability to influence and move a decision forward.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education:
Master’s Degree specializing in Student Life, Counseling, or equivalent.
Experience:
Several years of professional experience in both student affairs and alumni relations
Experience with housing operations, responding to crises and emergencies, and adjudicating disciplinary incidents
