Position Summary

Big Bend Community College (BBCC) invites applications for a Dual Enrollment Coordinator. This position reports to the Dean of Student Services and is responsible for coordinating and implementing procedures for the Running Start, College in the High School, and CTE Dual Credit Programs. This full-time, administrative/exempt position provides high quality services and support, and acts as the primary contact for prospective and currently enrolled dual enrollment students. The Dual Enrollment Coordinator establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with internal and external constituents necessary for operating BBCC dual enrollment programs.

Big Bend is a comprehensive public community college serving a large, rural district in central Washington State. BBCC's main campus is located in the city of Moses Lake (pop. 24,009) in Grant County, situated on the former Larson Air Force Base. In addition to the central campus, BBCC has learning centers in seven outlying communities that provide adult basic education, high school completion, and English Language Learning programs as gateways to college. We are accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities and we serve approximately 4,000 students, with an annualized FTE of approximately 2,000.

Essential Job Duties

Primary essential responsibilities include but will not be limited to the following:

  • Conduct recruitment and outreach efforts to potential dual enrollment students and their families through activities such as high school visits and presentations, student/parent information nights, distribution of program information to outside organizations, summer event participation, and attendance at internal and external activities where recruitment could occur.
  • Provide information to high school administrators, counselors, prospective students and their families, and the general public about the goals, objectives, eligibility, admission requirements, application procedures and other policies and procedures for BBCC dual enrollment programs.
  • Collaborate with high school and instructional services regarding course schedules, high school-college courses equivalencies, high school graduation requirements, and policies and procedures relevant to dual enrollment programs.
  • Collaborate with college departments to ensure that information regarding BBCC dual enrollment programs is up-to-date on all printed materials and on the College website.
  • Oversee and monitor the implementation of procedures for BBCC dual enrollment programs such as student admission application, registration, submission of enrollment verification forms, payments, and college-high school articulations and contracts.
  • Monitor academic performance, support students, and assist in the development and implementation of student success and retention efforts.
  • Track the academic progress of dual enrollment students and facilitate the retention of dual enrollment students after high school graduation to help students advance towards completion and transfer/career goals.
  • Collaborate with BBCC student services and faculty to provide enrollment, registration, and student services support for dual enrollment students.
  • Assist with new student registration sessions, new student orientations, and workshops for students.
  • Provide advisor training specific to Running Start and College in the High School students.
  • Support the preparation and submission of internal or external reports regarding BBCC dual enrollment programs.
  • Collect and monitor data and indicators to assess the effectiveness of BBCC dual enrollment programs and ensure continuous improvement .
  • Provide academic advising, support, transfer and career guidance for a caseload of students. Collaborate with college departments to ensure the smooth operation of BBCC dual enrollment programs.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.
OTHER WORK RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work and interact effectively with colleagues, staff, students, administrators, faculty, and others of various cultural, socio-economic, ability, and other backgrounds.
  • Conduct self in a professional manner and ensure the interaction with team members and other support groups is conducted in a courteous and efficient manner conducive to the college's values.
  • Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed to attend outreach events in the district. Ability to travel to attend meetings, trainings, or conferences in various parts of the state and (semi-annually) out of state to attend national conferences.
  • Ensure no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies. This includes, but is not limited to security and safety, understanding of safety data sheets (SDS), equipment, fire, disaster, safe lifting, and body mechanics.
  • Ensure compliance with college policies and procedures and state and federal regulations.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as may be required.
Minimum & Desirable Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • One (1) year of experience coordinating projects, programs, or activities.
  • Valid motor vehicle operator license required.
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse academic, age, socioeconomic, cultural, ability, and ethnic backgrounds.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous work experience in an education setting, preferably at a community college.
  • Prior experience with Running Start, College in the High School, or other dual enrollment programs.
  • Experience developing and delivering presentations in large or small group settings.
  • Experience providing service and responding to questions from students, parents, or the public.
  • Experience or training that demonstrates the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) to produce written correspondence, create and maintain spreadsheets, receive and respond to inquiries, tasks, etc.
  • Bilingual, Spanish/English proficiency.
COMPETENCIES:
  • Ability to effectively organize multiple work assignments, involving competing priorities, to produce work products that are accurate, of high quality, and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and strong time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and direct workflow for self.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from faculty, staff, students and the public utilizing oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability, or ability to learn within 6 months of hire, to create accessible content in both electronic and print formats as appropriate to the position. Examples include word/pdf documents, and web/learning management system content.
