Department Description

The Department of Anesthesiology provides the full range of clinical anesthesia services for over 45,000 procedures each year. The Department offers a full spectrum of anesthesia care to patients of all ages. Operating in world class, state of the art facilities at UNC Hospitals, both a tertiary care facility and community hospital for the people of North Carolina, the Department is staffed with generalists and specialty experts who treat the full spectrum of diseases, from the more common to the rarest. The Department’s mission includes four major areas: quality patient care, education, research, and administration. In addition to patient care, the Department teaches residents, fellows, and medical students the specialty of anesthesiology and, through outreach programs, educates the medical community on the highest standard of anesthetic care. It boasts very competitive residency and fellowship programs, programs that are renown across the country for the high quality of education provided and the quality of practitioners produced. The Department also conducts important research to improve anesthesia care and pain management for society as a whole.

Position Description

The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative support for the department. It will also be assigned to the Residency and Fellowship Programs. Assisting with their daily task and assisting with special projects. This position will also provide general support to faculty, residents, fellows, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Must be able to utilize MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher). Must have strong written and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail. Quick learner.
