Research Assistant - Department of Psychiatry

Requirements

The Department of Psychiatry is actively developing a clinical research program that includes clinical trials measuring the effect of treatments on anxiety and depressive disorders. The Research Assistant is needed to help with organization of the trials, carrying out study visits, and keeping data generated from the treatment trials organized. S/he works in the context of the Department of Psychiatry Research Division, which includes clinical and systems research in mental health topics. Reporting directly to Dr. Elizabeth Hoge, the Research Assistant has additional duties that include, but are not limited to:
  • Recruits, screens, and monitors patients involved in study protocols, scheduling and overseeing study visits, record-keeping, and measurement of vital signs.
  • Administers psychophysiological testing, using electrodes placed on the skin (such as electromyography, heart rate) for research project.
  • Prepares and cleans data generated by the psychophysiological testing.
  • Prepares and modifies ethics committee proposal documents, organizing all study related documents and computer records, data entry, assistance with presentations, and manuscript preparation.

Qualifications
  • BA or BS in Psychology, Neuroscience or related field
  • Previous experience in a health care, medical, or biological research project
  • Good organizational, interpersonal skills and good record keeping
  • Previous experience with psychophysiology recordings and contact with clinical populations in a health care setting preferred
