Description:

Tulane University School of Medicine’s Department of Surgery, Division of Transplant Surgery is currently seeking candidates for a Transplant Surgery clinical faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank.

Responsibilities will include participation in both the academic and research missions of the Tulane Department of Surgery. In addition to clinical duties at Tulane University Medical Center, University Medical Center of New Orleans and New Orleans Children’s Hospital, it is incumbent to have a strong interest and active participation in the education of residents and medical students.


Qualifications:
  • Must be ABS Board Certified in General Surgery or equivalent
  • Must have finished ASTS-Approved two-year Transplantation Fellowship (Accreditation of the fellowship in liver transplantation is mandatory, and accreditation of hepatobiliary surgery is preferred)
  • Must be able to present up-to-date transplant and HPB surgery case logs during the fellowship and current practice, if applicable, upon request
  • Must be eligible to obtain Louisiana Medical License
  • Must be committed in teaching residents and medical students
  • Must have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at Tulane University
  • At least, a year of post fellowship experience with constant exposure to liver transplantation and HPB surgery is preferred
  • Experience in laparoscopic living donor nephrectomy is preferred
  • Experience in living donor liver transplantation is strongly preferred
