Position Overview

The Student Accounts Representative assists students and parents with billing information, payment options and account details. Provides cashiering duties including processing student payments, departmental receipts, check cashing, end of day balancing.

Responsibilities

  • Assists students and parents in person, by phone and via e-mail by providing thorough and cyclical information including:
    • Costs billed through our office
      • Tuition & mandatory fees
      • Room & board
      • Miscellaneous (bookstore, health services, BUPD ticketing/decals, Library fees/fines etc.)
    • Payment options (in person and electronic)
    • Monthly Payment Plan Terms & Conditions
    • Prepaid Tuition Plan
    • Service indicator definitions
    • Website information, navigations, important dates, etc.
    • Departments/Contacts for Individual Colleges -individuals to refer parents/students/staff for specific details when necessary
  • Provides account counseling.
  • Processes student payments - cash and paper checks.
  • Distributes student payroll checks, athletic stipends and refund checks.
  • Cashes checks and negotiates petty cash for faculty, staff and students.
  • Maintain cashiering drawer, prepare buys and sells as needed.
  • Prepare check deposits and all reports for end of day balancing.
  • Confirm & enter all departmental receipts to appropriate accounts; balance and prepare end of day reports.
  • Tests and assists with implementation of system upgrades and regression testing cycles in cooperation with System’s Analyst.
  • Monthly responsibilities
  • Contact students new to BU (and Authorized Users) who have holds due to unpaid balance (SAR Outreach Initiative).
  • Assists with mailings (e.g. Title IV PLUS notifications, refund checks etc.).
  • Assists Manager with other projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Relevant experience
