Requirements

The Special Assistant acts as the special assistant to the Dean of Admissions, organizing all special events for JD admitted and prospective students and overseeing the JD Student Ambassador program. S/he serves as the Financial Manager for the Office of Admissions.The incumbent works closely with the Dean to successfully manage the Dean's schedule, special events for JD recruiting, and the JD Student Ambassador program. Reporting directly to the Assistant Dean of Admissions/Director of Admissions, the Special Assistant has additional duties that include but are not limited to:
  • Manages the Dean's calendar, makes travel arrangements, and assists with correspondence management.
  • Plans and manages events, and provides administrative support for fundraising events organized by other offices, such as JD information sessions and guided tours, JD Open Houses and other admitted student events, and JD VIP guided tours.
  • Manages admitted student communications, such as information about JD special events, JD admission package and holiday card mailing, and JD website maintenance.
  • Recruits first year law students to participate in the Student Ambassador program.
  • Recruits Student Ambassadors to assist with special events and JD recruitment as needed.
  • Trains Student Ambassadors on tours and admitted student interactions.
  • Supports the Dean of Admissions with Financial Affairs, including Procurement Card paperwork and expense reporting.
  • Manages and maintains the Admissions operating budget via monthly checks.
  • Completes supply requisitions according to University policy and procedure as needed.
  • Participates in the rotating coverage of the Front Desk.
  • Supervises one Student Worker.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • A minimum of 1-3 years of relevant administrative experience
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new databases and advanced administrative skills
  • The ability to juggle various tasks
