Job Purpose:
The Assistant Director, Student Development will oversee all aspects of the planning, implementation and support for undergraduate class-based programs that educate students about The Stanford Fund, encourage participation through giving and volunteer service, and cultivate future alumni leaders for Stanford.
The Stanford Fund for Undergraduate Education (Est. 1994) is the university's primary annual fund for undergraduate alumni, parents, and students.
The ideal candidate for this position is a teacher and mentor at heart: eager to educate rising stars on the benefits of philanthropy in general and supporting Stanford in particular. They enjoy working with energetic and passionate people, creating compelling and fun programs that instill lasting & positive impressions, and working in a relaxed environment with big impact.
Your responsibilities will include:
Additional responsibilities may include:
- Help plan and execute engagement programs to educate young alumni about The Stanford Fund and the importance of philanthropy.
- Assist the Director in overseeing the budget for the Student and Young Alumni Development group, including tracking expenditures and reconciling monthly budget statements.
- Work with other development officers on engagement strategy for legacy families.
- Assist the Director in identifying, recruiting and training additional young Alumni volunteers to serve as young alumni volunteers in non-reunion years.
- Other duties may also be assigned.
To be successful in this position, you will bring:
- Bachelor's degree and one year of experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
- Experience with email, phone, direct mail, and/or digital marketing.
- Experience working with Customer Relationship Management software or basic databases.
- Familiarity with fundraising in a higher education environment is desirable.
- Experience planning large events.
- Management experience.
- Experience working with student organizations and/or student leaders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with a wide range of people both on staff and within alumni base.
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Good organizational and time management skills, including the ability to set and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with Salesforce.com and Vemno is desirable.
- Knowledge of Stanford University is desirable.
- Valid Non-commercial Class Driver's License.
