DESCRIPTION

This position is for an ICU Nurse Manager for Jacobs Medical Center. There will be a co-management structure in JMC 3GH where this manager would be working closely with the current Medical/Oncology ICU Manager (Pulmonary Critical Care Medicine Services). This position would require direct oversight over more the 70 nursing staff (registered nurses and nursing aides, career and contract labor). This position would be responsible for quality initiatives and clinical care for the surgical services within the JMC 3GH patient population including solid organ transplant. This position would also be responsible for the Rapid Recovery ICU (or ICU Overflow). Responsibilities include but are not limited to oversight of: hiring, performance management, regulatory compliance and licensing, quality improvement, budgetary oversight, collaboration with ancillary services, patient satisfaction, staff engagement and satisfaction, and collaboration with surgical physician leadership. This management position would report directly to the Director of Nursing for the Inpatient Oncology Services.

Manages nursing and administrative operations in specific patient care areas. Implements changes to patient workflows and operational processes. Maintains 24 hour line management responsibility for the administration of fiscal, material and human resources. Involved in ensuring optimal patient outcomes through effective leadership and / or provision of patient care delivery in assigned nursing unit(s) or area(s). Promotes environment for a shared voice in nursing practice and exchange of ideas to continually improve nursing and patient care outcomes. Accountable for the quality, safety, patient experience and cost-effectiveness of patient care. Consults and collaborates with other health care professionals to coordinate the management of patient care. Serves as a resource to staff, physicians, students and others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors or Master's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State of California.
  • BLS/CPR and ACLS certification at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six months of hire date.
  • 7 or more years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years of acute care ICU experience.
  • 6 months or more of supervisory or management experience.
  • Demonstrated hospital management skills, with progressive expertise in patient care services.
  • Knowledge to manage disaster incidents, sentinel events and ability to problem solve with critical thinking skills.
PREFERRED QUALFICATIONS
  • Master's Degree in Nursing or relevant area.
  • Certification in relevant area.
  • Surgical, transplant, and/or oncology ICU experience.

  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
