About the College/Unit/Department

Augusta University (AU) and the University of Georgia (UGA) partnered to create a four-year medical campus in Athens to help alleviate a statewide shortage of physicians that threatens the health of Georgians. The AU/UGA Medical Partnership, which enrolled its first class of 40 students in 2010, combines the significant instructional and research resources of UGA, the state’s flagship land grant research university, with the expertise of AU-MCG, Georgia’s only public medical school.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
Familiarity with PeopleSoft or other financial systems.

Position Summary

This is a high level accounting position with responsibility for a complex organization. The position provides accounting services for the AU/UGA Medical Partnership and is responsible for coordination and management of key accounting, budgeting, and auditing functions of the organization. Will carry out all duties for both Augusta University and University of Georgia with an in depth knowledge of both universities’ financial systems and policies.

Manage the day-to-day accounting operations:
•Oversee all monthly reconciliation and reporting transactions for accounts (UGA, UGA Foundation, UGA Project/Grants, AU, AU Project/Grants, Augusta University Medical Associates (AUMA), Medical Partnership Student Government (SGO), St. Mary’s and Piedmont GME Programs). This requires both high level accounting knowledge and proficiency in UGA and AU financial policies, procedures, and financial systems, including:
•PeopleSoft Financials, PeopleSoft HR (OneUSGConnect), SunGuard OneSolution
•Prepare budget amendments as required.
•Analyze all accounting transactions and policies for all accounts. Determine corrective actions and make adjustments as needed.
•Provide financial support to principal investigators on grants as required.

Responsible for financial reporting and compliance:
•Prepare and monitor monthly and year-end cash management status reports.
•Create queries and extract financial data in both UGA and AU financial and data management systems. Prepare comprehensive financial reports for the Medical Partnership. Maintain internal tracking tool for all financial data from both institutions and private sector sources.
•Assist in analyzing, developing and enforcing internal financial policies and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements.
•Prepare reports for the Senior Director of Finance and Administration including analytical report reviews and others as needed.
•Prepare reports and invoices for St. Mary’s and Piedmont as part of the Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs.
•Audit leave records of all Medical Partnership faculty and staff (UGA, AU).
•Assist with all external and internal audit requests (UGA, AU).
•Ensure assigned business transactions and processes are performed in a timely and quality manner in accordance with established UGA as well as AU policies and internal controls.
•Establish and revise work methods and procedures based on analysis. Develop and maintain financial process documentation for the Medical Partnership.
•Maintain required transactional supporting documentation and records based on retention/audit standards.
