This position manages and controls accounting, budgeting, auditing, and other financial or related functions to ensure the financial integrity of the Department of Animal & Dairy Science-Tifton. The incumbent also coordinates and controls personnel and operational matters, supervises the Administrative Associate, also located in the Tifton Office, and serves as a liaison to the Athens office staff.

Collaboratively with the College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences (CAES) Business Office and the CAES Contracts & Grants, the position will support departmental faculty in the development of budgets for grants and contracts.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

- Manage the daily operations of the department.
- Supervise office staff.
- Serve as departmental approver in OneUSG Connect system.
- Serve as departmental HR and payroll representative.
- Process budget journal, transfers and direct retros (formerly personal services JVs) as needed.
- Assist faculty with grant budgets as it pertains to payroll and benefits costs.
- Process, approve, and reconcile payroll for all pay groups.
- Coordinate all new hires, process I-9s and termination paperwork and training for department.
- Create secure, confidential personnel files, complete EEO forms, Workers’ Comp forms, FMLA forms, Shared Leave forms, separation notices and exit interview forms.

- Serve as departmental approver in Works – - Responsible for ensuring compliance with UGA financial processes and standards.
- Provides oversight for all other non-personal services funds within the department.
- Serves as a resource to the Business Managers in Athens regarding all financial matters for Tifton accounts.
- Serves as liaison between department and CAES Business and Contacts & Grants Offices, UGA Fiscal Affairs, Budgets, HR, Payroll, Sponsored Projects Administration, Property Control, UGA Foundation and 4-H Foundation.
- Maintain the CAES Personnel Database for the department.

- Communicate approved policies and procedures to faculty and staff; provide advice as necessary.
- Serve as the assistant to the Department Head for financial and personnel matters.
- Perform related work as required by department head.
