Job Description Summary

This position will assist in the management of multiple clinical trials and responsibilities in specific research area. Coordinate the screening of patients, subject enrollment, collection and storage of biological samples and related study documents, and collection of clinical data. Assist with Institutional Review Board (IRB) filings and inquiries, and assist in the preparation of manuscripts, grant proposals, and research related presentations. Works closely with the Principal Investigator, manager, and study team to identify problems and develop solutions. Implement approved changes to procedures as needed and monitor results. Responsible for study coordination for investigator-initiated studies, multi-center research studies, and patient-oriented clinical and translational research projects.

Job Description

Plan/perform research and administrative tasks in an evolving, medium-sized research group that focuses on nicotine addiction research, including Phase II medication trials, behavioral treatment studies, and broader HIV and smoking research. The successful candidate will have experience collecting research data, interacting with research participants, and working well as part of a team. Specific activities include: (1) Assist with recruitment efforts across several protocols; conduct telephone eligibility screenings; complete in-person study visits; consent participants; oversee study sessions; (2) Train personnel on center-wide and study-specific SOPs (e.g. data entry/QC, phone screening, data collection, computerized behavioral tasks) across several projects; (3) Performs data entry and quality assurance activities; (4) Collect and process biological samples; (5) Conduct behavioral smoking cessation counseling using a manualized treatment and perform QA on sessions conducted by research assistants; (6) Schedule study tracks, manage room availability, and coordinate availability with study Nurse Practitioners; and (7) Attend weekly lab and staff meetings; report directly to PI.

This position is contingent on funding.

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree with 1-3 years of related experience in research and clinical study methodologies or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
