DescriptionReview, interpret and evaluate college transcripts for newly admitted transfer students to determine placement of transfer courses in order to accurately prepare transfer credit evaluations; respond to transfer related questions in-person, telephone, email, and written correspondence. Meet with current and prospective transfer students on a walk-in basis, as well as, transfer scheduled appointments. Recruit qualified students from the Maryland public community colleges and possible out of state institutions. This will include representing the university at community college Transfer Advising fairs and special programs within the state. Overnight and weekend travel may be necessary. Counsel and assist students during new student orientation in the summer and winter programs. Work with academic colleges and collaborate with New Student Programs as needed. Act as a resource for academic departments, community colleges and off-campus agencies regarding transferability of courses to the university. Act as a liaison for an assigned academic college for relevant matters in transfer admission and evaluations. Special projects and populations as assigned, which include but are not limited to: Open House events, admitted student programs such as TU4U and participation in pre-transfer advising events both on and off campus. 

QualificationsBachelor's degree and one year of Higher Education experience. The position requires excellent communication skills. Ability to present to small and large groups of people in various types of venues. Must pay attention to detail and possess strong organizational skills. The successful candidate will be a team player with a strong work ethic, interested in and attentive to cross-cultural communication and someone who actively contributes to the office welfare in a high volume, fast-paced environment. Ability to travel, work some evenings and weekends. The familiarity and use of technology is critical to the success of this position and the overall operation. This position requires high levels of organization and resourcefulness; analytical discernment necessary. Knowledge in PeopleSoft, ImageNow and ARTSYS preferred.
