  • The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine of the University of Miami Miller School Of Medicine invites applicants with an M.D. or D.O. degree to apply for a full-time academic oriented Assistant Professor or Associate Professor Faculty position in Hematopathology. Academic rank, compensation, and appointment type will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  The applicant should: have board certifications in Anatomic Pathology or Combined Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Hematopathology, be accomplished in providing excellent diagnostic services for benign and malignant hematopoietic diseases, possess strong communication skills, be committed to teaching and training of residents, fellows, and medical students, and have a strong record of participation in peer- reviewed clinical and translational research. Responsibilities for the position include providing clinical service coverage within the Hematopathology Division for the University of Miami network of hospitals and clinics (UHealth System) and the flagship county hospitals of Miami-Dade County (Jackson Health System).

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is subspecialized, works closely with the University of Miami Hospital, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and Jackson Health Systems in providing excellent patient care, and is an important member of the multidisciplinary Hematology / Oncology Site Disease Group. The service handles more than 4500 tissue biopsy specimens (bone marrows and lymph nodes) and 5000 flow cytometry assays annually, and oversees a wide variety of molecular and cytogenetic testing related to hematologic malignancies. The diverse spectrum of pathology is remarkable and challenging.   The Hematopathology Division currently has 4 Hematopathology faculty and two ACGME combined fellowship positions in Hematopathology that attract excellent candidates. Opportunities to collaborate with funded researchers are numerous.  The successful candidate will be joining an excellent family of subspecialized faculty that are committed to each other and the community we serve, and dedicated to ensuring the continued success of our department and institution. In addition to a competitive salary and excellent benefits package, this is an outstanding opportunity to practice in Miami, a highly desirable area rich in culture and diversity, and a premier destination known for it’s weather, lifestyle, and opportunities for outdoor activities.
