Position Summary:
The Assistant Director of Admissions helps to manage the on-campus recruitment process, assists with the management of off-campus recruitment, contributes significantly to all event planning, including Orientation and an extensive admitted student visitation calendar, counsels and advises prospective and admitted J.D. students, and reviews J.D. applications for admission.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for prospective and admitted student inquiries via email, telephone, and in person.
  • Is the primary Admissions team member responsible for in-person recruitment, and travels throughout the country to recruitment events throughout the year, but especially during the fall semester.
  • Manage on-campus recruitment programs for prospective students, including class observation and law school tours. To this end, responsible for the hiring, training, and supervising of all part-time student tour guides and student volunteers. Contributes significantly to the coordination of all events for admitted applicants. Plans and oversees specific programs and events, such as monthly Open Houses, a weekly Monday program for admits, an annual Diversity Day, and parts of Orientation for new students. Works closely with Cardozo students and student organizations on recruitment activities. Assists with the management of Cardozo's extensive off-campus recruitment programs.
  • Interview and evaluate candidates for admission. Serve as a member of the Cardozo Admissions Committee. Read and evaluate significant portion of the applicant pool, and makes admissions recommendations.
  • Contribute to the wait list, transfer/visiting, and deferred admissions processes and recruitment of these student populations.
  • Develop and analyze statistical applicant and enrollment reports on a regular basis. In this capacity, also oversee the operations of the application evaluation process, ensuring that admissions decisions are rendered appropriately and in a timely fashion.
  • Serve as an editor for all content posted to the admissions section of the Cardozo website.
  • Take on special projects and additional responsibilities as requested by the Dean of Admissions and the Assistant Dean of Admissions.

    Must be able to work independently. Responsible for the supervision of a number of current students who lead daily tours, cover the reception desk, and volunteer throughout the year for various other admissions events. Sound judgment required; this person will play a key role on the Cardozo Admissions Committee and will regularly make recommendations to the dean of admissions regarding the possible admission of applicants.

    Experience & Educational Background:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Valid driver license required
  • J.D. or advanced degree and/or 3-5 years professional experience preferred

    Skills & Competencies:
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills essential
  • Computer expertise required
